“I’m a dancer, not a whore.”
Join us at the Rio Theatre for a Friday Late Night screening of one of the most notorious films ever made, Paul Verhoeven‘s 1995 classic (?) Showgirls. Elizabeth Berkley (of TV’s Saved By The Bell) stars as Nomi, a young drifter who arrives in Las Vegas to become a dancer and soon sets about clawing and pushing her way to become the top of the Vegas showgirls. Also starring Kyle MacLachlan and Gina Gershon.
“‘Showgirls’… is one of those delirious, hilarious botches that could be taught in film schools as a How Not To.” (Time Magazine)
“Berkley’s feature film debut is a joy, if you can call it acting: she jumps up and down a lot to indicate excitement.” (The New Yorker)
