Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (10th Anniversary Screening)

Empires are built on fear. Rebellions are built on hope.

This May (the) Fourth, join us at the Rio Theatre as we toast the holiest holiday among STAR WARS fans, with a prime time viewing of  George Lucas‘ iconic 1977 film that started it all, A NEW HOPE. Stick around for a double bill, because we will be following it up with a 10h Anniversary Screening of the 2016 standalone “prequel” ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY.

Former scientist Galen Erso lives on a farm with his wife and young daughter, Jyn. His peaceful existence comes crashing down when the evil Orson Krennic takes him away from his beloved family. Many years later, Galen becomes the Empire’s lead engineer for the most powerful weapon in the galaxy, the Death Star. Knowing that her father holds the key to its destruction, Jyn joins forces with a spy and other resistance fighters to steal the space station’s plans for the Rebel Alliance. Starring Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Donnie Yen, Ben Mendelsohn, Forest Whitaker, Riz Ahmed and Mads Mikkelson.

“This is a movie made for fans.” (Guardian)

“Like an Imperial Star Destroyer, it starts off slow and somewhat clunky, but by the time the mind-blowing third act arrives, it’s all a fan can do not to stand up and cheer. “ (Austin Chronicle)

“A tense, well-made spacefaring war movie about a desperate and demoralized band of insurgents standing up against a rising authoritarian regime.” (NPR)

“Its characters are largely new, which means the movie can do with them as it wants. It isn’t hemmed in the way most prequels are. “ (BBC.com)
