Presented by the Langara Film Arts Program
This summer, as part of Langara’s Film Arts Program, a group of 31 students from the writing, directing, and acting streams came together to create (10) ten bold, original 9-min short films.
In their own words: “These stories come from a wildly diverse crew of filmmakers — representing Mexico, South Korea, Ukraine, Hong Kong, India, Taiwan, the United States, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Peru, Brazil, Japan, Iran, Indonesia, and Canada. We span generations too — from fresh-out-of-high-school teens to seasoned adults — all brought together by the slightly delusional, totally unshakable belief that telling stories is worth everything…”
This year’s lineup dives into cosmic raptures, homelessness, the fierceness of motherhood, and the goodness of the human heart. Expect social media meltdowns, conspiracy theorists canceling themselves, disaster weddings, high-stakes raids, alien identity theft, Jesus Christ trying to get a job, strip club camaraderie, and an animatronic Santa Claus who will kill you good and dead.
The point is: we didn’t hold back — and it shows.
The evening’s festivities will include a short intermission.
