The Vancouver Badass Film Festival: The Stickman’s Hollow

Badass 10 is coming live to the Rio – The Tenth Annual International Vancouver Badass Film Festival and Script Competition goes live at East Vancouver’s historic Rio Theatre for a pre-Halloween live experience you can’t download and the indie film community event of the horror season! It’s the genre film festival with: 22 films screened live with filmmakers, legendary live shows always featuring giant snakes, fire, carnival side-show, magic, horror burlesque, film-specific live surprises, and the wildest pre-Halloween costume contest in town over three programs Sunday October 20, 2024!

The day’s events continue with The North American premiere of the terrifying new found footage feature film: The Stickman’s Hollow (Canada, 83minutes, dir: Jack Cox).  Shot all around BC by a team of horror veterans, The Stickman’s Hollow has been called Blair Witch meets The Exorcist. Preceded by the haunting new shorts Manic Sparkle: Parable of Death and Non-death (Iran, 5min, dir: Nima Grey Crow) and School’s Out (Canada, 3.5m, dir: Warren Dean Fulton), with casts and crew attending and a filmmaker’s Q&A following the screenings.

A young couple on a fishing trip with their son decide to explore an area of remote wilderness known as the Stickman’s Hollow. Told through the surviving pieces of footage from their fateful trip, the film documents the family’s vacation as they are mercilessly hunted in the forest by an unknown force, and the dark past of the hollow is brought to light.
