Kiwi journalist and filmmaker David Farrier (TICKLED, DARK TOURIST) unwittingly stumbles into a game of cat and mouse with a mystery man creating havoc in his neighborhood, wheel-clamping cars at a local antique store. That clamper was Michael Organ. When the owner of the shop this wheel clamper patrols denies knowing him, Farrier becomes even more intrigued by the mysterious figure. As Farrier starts to learn more about this bizarre schemer and master manipulator – from meeting other “victims,” to learning that he is also a convicted thief who once claimed to be royalty – he find out that Organ has set his sights on him, too.
As Farrier continues his deep dive into dangerous waters with an unusually odd (and potentially dangerous) fellow, we begin to see first-hand how Mr. Organ inserts himself psychologically into people’s minds – and that he is inserting himself into Farrier’s. What unfolds is a thrilling and tension-filled three-year-long investigation — unearthing a trail of multiple court cases, inflated claims of royal bloodlines, ruined lives, at least one stolen boat.
Equal parts charming comedy and psychological horror-show, MISTER ORGAN is a compelling watch that will get under your skin; a chilling reminder that Mr. Organs exist, and walk among us. Farrier has exposed and captured that rarest of cinematic unicorns: A bone fide “documentary villain” (and one that would put KING OF KONG‘s Billy Mitchell to shame).
Filmmaker David Farrier will be joining us immediately after the screening for a virtual Q&A following the screening on Friday, October 13.
