Hollywood had it coming.

Kevin Smith’s Sunday Cinema Side Hustle: Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back

“The Internet has given everybody in America a voice. For some reason, everybody decides to use that voice to bitch about movies.“

This Fall, come and kick it at the Rio Theatre for Kevin Smith’s Sunday Cinema Side Hustle, a retrospective series featuring some of the maverick filmmaker’s most beloved works – hosted by the man himself! We’re beyond excited to welcome our “forever friend” (who so generously donated his time and energy to our #SavetheRio campaign in 2018) back to our stage alongside screenings of fan faves including CLERKS, MALLRATS, CHASING AMY, and JAY AND SILENT BOB STRIKES BACK. Kevin is a naturally gifted storyteller and engaging orator who manages to fill every show with his trademark insight, stories, hilarious anecdotes, and a smart perspective on both the “the biz” and, “this thing we call life.” If you’ve never had occasion to spend some time with him, then consider clearing your calendar and getting a pass – we can’t wait!

When Jay (Jason Mewes) and Silent Bob (Kevin Smith) learn that a Bluntman and Chronic movie is being made featuring their comic book counterparts, they drool at the thought of fat movie checks rolling in. But when the pair find that there won’t be any royalties coming their way, they set out to sabotage the flick at all costs.

JAY AND SILENT BOB STRIKE BACK (Kevin Smith, 2001 / 104 mins / 14A) The comic “Bluntman and Chronic” is based on real-life stoners Jay and Silent Bob, so when they get no profit from a big-screen adaptation, they set out to wreck the movie.

What People Are Saying

"Silly, profane and, on its own explicitly stated terms, very nearly perfect."

Eye Weekly

"In keeping with the Smith rules, the movie is irreverent, self-referential, twisted, cheap and tasteless. And, of course, I mean that as the highest compliment."

Washington Post

"Deliciously inane, transcendentally outrageous and purposely preposterous, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back is destined to be seen by some as the greatest cinematic achievement of the year."
