Nick Cave: One More Time with Feeling

Originally envisioned as a “one night only” cinema event to accompany the release of a new record, director Andrew Dominik’s (Chopper, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, Killing Them Softly), ONE MORE TIME WITH FEELING documents the intimate aspects of the writing and recording process as well as an opportunity for fans to hear and experience Skeleton Tree, the sixteenth studio album from Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds. Originally a performance-based concept, ONE MORE TIME WITH FEELING evolved into something much more significant as Dominik delved into the deeply personal, tragic backdrop of the album. Interwoven throughout the Bad Seeds‘ filmed performance are interviews and footage shot by Dominik, accompanied by Nick Cave‘s intermittent narration and improvised rumination. Filmed in black-and-white and colour, the result is a fragile, raw and true testament to an artist trying to find his way through the darkness – and back into the light.

“The singer opens up over the tragic death of his 15-year-old son, airing his raw grief in this unconventionally directed documentary.” (The Gurardian)

“As a documentary, One More Time hesitates to say anything too neatly or directly. In that way, it is a uniquely effective meditation on grief.” (AV Club)

“Even in the throes of grief, Nick Cave retains his mystique as a rock shaman.” (The New York Times)
