13th Annual Storytelling Championship Finals
The grande finale of a yearlong live storytelling competition. Ten of Vancouver’s best writers and performers tell original stories and compete for the title of 2017 Story Slam Champion.
Founded in 2004, Vancouver Story Slam is the longest-running live storytelling event of its kind in Canada – and the second-longest-running in the world! Throughout the year, nearly 100 people sign up to share their original writing live onstage. Audience members vote for their favourite stories; top storytellers are invited to participate in this, the annual championship. Over $2,000 in cash prizes are awarded annually. Al Tee, Alix Born, Cory Thibert, David Johnson, Emily Kelsall, Griffin Tedeschini, Mike Funergy, Reive Doig, Shlomo McPeake, and Spillious will share unique, original stories. The evening will begin with a guest tale from two-time Storytelling Champion Bryant Ros
What people are saying:
“This story slam…is not just an event. This is something that creates one of the most welcoming, nurturing, and mind opening communities I have encountered in Vancouver/Canada and also one that I felt like I would like to be a part of.”
