Following its sold out Canadian Premiere at this year’s Vancouver International Women in Film Festival, the much-talked about new documentary A PERFECT 14 is making it way to the Rio Theatre (with filmmakers in attendance for Q&A!) on Saturday, March 30 and Sunday, April 7.
A PERFECT 14 explores the world of plus size models fighting to reshape the fashion industry and the beauty standards of society. The film follows the journeys of models Elly Mayday (Canada), Kerosene Deluxe (Netherlands), and Laura Wells (Australia) as they struggle against our culture’s distorted perception of body image. A PERFECT 14 also questions the fashion industry leaders and pioneers in the world’s meccas and holds them accountable for their responsibility in size-based segregation.
“A PERFECT 14 is opening up a new conversation about the media’s culpability in perpetuating obsolete beauty standards, easily making this film one of the most important projects in the fashion world right now.” (Huffington Post)
“The documentary … offers an unflinching look at the modelling business and its often unforgiving treatment of women with curves.” (Daily Mail UK)
