Tremors #MonsterMonday

The monster movie that breaks new ground.

Remember the time that Kevin Bacon, Reba McEntire (!?) and the Dad from Family Ties were in a scary movie together about strange seismic activity and weirdo underground wormy creatures that killed people in their small town…?

Of course you do!

Because that movie was TREMORS, it’s awesome, and it’s making an appearance on our screen as a #MonsterMonday offering on March 21. With Fred Ward, Michael Gross, Ariana Richards, Victor Wong.

“‘Tremors’ is the ‘Slacker’ of monster movies: bemused, improvisatory, willfully low-key.” (Entertainment Weekly)

“Tremors is a treat.” (Eye For Film)

TREMORS (Ron Underwood, 1990 / 96 mins / PG) Repairmen Val McKeeand Earl Bassett are tired of their dull lives in the small desert town of Perfection, Nev. But just as the two try to skip town, they happen upon a series of mysterious deaths and a concerned seismologist studying unnatural readings below the ground. With the help of an eccentric couple, the group fights for survival against giant, worm-like monsters hungry for human flesh.

Hick handymen Val McKee and Earl Bassett can barely eke out a living in the Nevada hamlet of Perfection, so they decide to leave town -- despite an admonition from a shapely seismology coed who's picking up odd readings on her equipment. Before long, Val and Earl discover what's responsible for those readings: 30-foot-long carnivorous worms with a proclivity for sucking their prey underground.
