Dust your Power Glove off and fire up Double Dragon, because The Gentleman Hecklers are bringing the Nintendo-lovin’ 80s kids movie THE WIZARD to the big screen on Wednesday, May 10.
Fred Savage stars as Corey (it was the 80s… of course he was a Corey!), a kid who refuses to let his younger, emotionally disturbed half-brother Jimmy (Luke Edwards) be institutionalized, opting instead to run away together. (This could be construed as kidnapping but… Let the Hecklers discuss it.) They soon join forces with a resourceful girl (Jenny Lewis, in her pre-Rilo Kiley days), who notices that Jimmy has a special talent: he is a “wizard” at video games, and can achieve the high score on absolutely everything he plays. Evading their parents and a sinister bounty hunter, the trio hitchhike their way across America as they head for a climactic showdown at the national video game championship – and $50,000 – in California.
Let The Gentlemen Hecklers provide you with their unique brand of live, hilarious commentary – for the best cheesy movies! Eric Fell, Patrick Maliha, and Shaun Stewart are Vancouver’s masters of movie riffing, making so-bad-they’re-good movies even better by talking you through them.
