The Rio Grind Film Festival: Tragedy Girls

Friends who slay together, stay together

Finally… A killer body-horror comedy that passes the Bechdel test – HEATHERS meets MEAN GIRLS in an Instagram universe. It’s Vancouver-based (we’re claiming him, mmmkay?) writer-director Tyler MacIntrye‘s TRAGEDY GIRLS, it’s bloody good fun, it’s one of the breakout horror his of 2017, and it’s hitting the Rio Theatre‘s screen as our Friday Late Night Movie on November 18, as part of our Rio Grind Film Festival.

Best friends Sadie and McKayla are on a mission to boost their social media fandom as amateur crime reporters hot on the trail of a deranged local serial killer. After they manage to capture the killer and secretly hold him hostage, they realize the best way to get scoops on future victims would be to, you know, murder people themselves. As the @TragedyGirls become an overnight sensation and panic grips their small town, can their friendship survive the strain of national stardom? Will they get caught? Will their accounts get verified? With Brianna Hildebrand, Alexandra Shipp, Josh Hutcherson, Craig Robinson, and Kevin Durand.
