Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971)

It's Scrumdiddlyumptious!

As part of our tribute to the late, great Gene Wilder, we welcome the actor’s fans and movie lovers of all ages to “enter a world of pure imagination,” with what so many consider to be his signature role – as the eccentric candy-maker Willy Wonka in the beloved children’s classic Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. It goes without saying that though Wilder offered us all an astonishing array of standout performances, there is something truly magical about his endearing portrayal of the eccentric (and occasionally acerbic) owner of a chocolate factory who stages a worldwide contest to find the perfect successor to his mysterious candy empire.

As British author Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a classic of children’s literature, so too is director Mel Stuart’s scrumpdidlyumptious musical adaptation, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, a classic of cinema (not to mention a delicious treat for kids of all ages!).
