The Ten Commandments

The 11th Commandment? Experience THE TEN COMMANDMENTS on the big screen.

Charlton Heston leads an all-star cast in one of Hollywood’s greatest “golden age” biblical epics – and legendary director Cecil B. DeMille‘s final film – THE TEN COMMANDMENTS. A landmark title even upon release in 1956, it was the most expensive cinematic extravaganza ever made at the time; it won seven Oscars (including Best Picture) and would eventually becoming a cultural touchstone the world over. Newly restored and in high definition, the Gods of Cinema command that thou shalt experience its movie majesty in its sublime, divine glory – on the big screen! Also starring Yul Brynner, Anne Baxter, Edward G. Robinson, Yvonne De Carlo, and Vincent Price.

The film recounts (at great length – and with the most incredible production value!) the biblical story of Moses (Heston), an adopted Egyptian Prince living a life of privilege who learns of his true Hebrew heritage. He dedicates himself to liberating his people from captivity and — with the aid of plagues and divine intervention — manages to lead them out of Egypt and across the Red Sea. The epic journey is made all the more memorable thanks to a few divine curve calls – a golden calf, locusts, a plague, a long walk in the desert, the plight of the first born son, etc. – before an unforgettable visitation by God on Mount Sinai.

“There is no other picture like it. There will be none. If it could be summed up in a word, the word would be sublime. And the man responsible for that, when all is said and done is Cecil B. DeMille.” (The Hollywood Reporter)

“An epic soap opera of an event — the running time is longer than any church service — that still impresses more than it amuses.” (Empire Magazine)

“It’s the gigantic vulgarity, the obsessive righteousness of the director himself, which keeps the show on the road and suffuses the movie with its daft power.” (Time Out)
