The film recounts (at great length – and with the most incredible production value!) the biblical story of Moses (Heston), an adopted Egyptian Prince living a life of privilege who learns of his true Hebrew heritage. He dedicates himself to liberating his people from captivity and — with the aid of plagues and divine intervention — manages to lead them out of Egypt and across the Red Sea. The epic journey is made all the more memorable thanks to a few divine curve calls – a golden calf, locusts, a plague, a long walk in the desert, the plight of the first born son, etc. – before an unforgettable visitation by God on Mount Sinai.
