The Goonies

Take the Oath. Join the Adventure.

“Hey you guu-uuys!”

Join us at the Rio Theatre for a Friday Late Night Movie screening of what is – hands down – one of the all time most-requested titles we get, director Richard Donner‘s THE GOONIES. Written by Chris Columbus from a story by the film’s producer Steven Spielberg, this beloved 80s childhood classic follows a group of kids from Astoria, Washington (including Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Corey Feldman, Martha Plimpton, Kerri Green, and Ke Huy Quan – who so memorably too home Oscar gold for his incredible turn in EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE), who embark on a treasure-hunting journey after finding a mysterious map pointing them towards the long lost, legendary pirate booty of a certain One-Eyed Willy. Can the kids find the rich stuff, avoid Willy’s booby traps, outrun the Fratellis, make it home all in one piece and save their neighborhood from being turned into a golf course? Well, they can try. After all, “Goonies never say die!” With Anne Ramsay, Joe Pantoliano.

“The Goonies’ is a smooth mixture of the usual ingredients from Steven Spielberg action movies, made special because of the high-energy performances of the kids who have the adventures.” (Roger Ebert)

“‘The Goonies’ is as hip, sassy and innocent as its seven teenage heroes.” (TIME Magazine)

“It’s a movie so omnipresent that the experience of watching it proves secondary to its irremovable place of our culture.” (Deep Focus Review)
