The Assassin

Following THE ASSASSIN’s rapturous reception at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, director Hou Hsiao-Hsien was awarded the Best Director award for this gorgeous, masterful martial arts film. Set in ninth-century China, THE ASSASSIN follows a female assassin (Shu Qi) who is ordered to take out a nobleman she was previously engaged to. THE ASSASSIN has been selected as Taiwan’s official entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the 88th Annual Academy Awards.
