The Night Is Short, Walk On Girl

Meeting like this so often, it's due to fate.

From the visionary mind of director Masaaki Yuasa (MIND GAME, LU OVER THE WALL, Adventure Time’s “Food Chain”) comes THE NIGHT IS SHORT, WALK ON GIRL, a comedy about one epic night in Kyoto. As a group of teens go out for a night on the town, a sophomore known only as “The Girl with Black Hair” experiences a series of surreal encounters with the local nightlife… all the while unaware of the romantic longings of Senpai, a fellow student who has been creating increasingly fantastic and contrived reasons to run into her, in an effort to win her heart.

“A highly original work by an artist who follows his own vision – wherever it leads.” (Los Angeles Times)

“The term “fever dream” is often used to describe animation like Yuasa’s, but it’s rarely so apt as it is here.” (Film School Rejects)

“Colorful, madcap, and surprisingly sweet, THE NIGHT IS SHORT, WALK ON GIRL is the best nocturnal romp you never had, and a dizzying reignition of rom-com formula.” (Paste Magazine)

Plagued by self-doubt and tormented by humiliating compromises, she begins to be stalked, in her waking and sleeping moments, by an alter ego who claims to be “the real Mima”, until she collapses into madness as her coworkers are brutally slain around her.

THE NIGHT IS SHORT, WALK ON GIRL (Masaaki Yuasa, 2017 / 93 mins / 18A / Japanese with English subtitles) A young girl embarks on an insanely long night of partying where she interacts with an increasingly eccentric cast of characters.
