Memory: The Origins of Alien

A contemplation on the symbiotic collaborative process of movie-making, the power of myth, and the collective unconscious, MEMORY: THE ORIGINS OF ALIEN unearths the largely untold origin story behind Ridley Scott’s cinematic masterpiece, and reveals a treasure trove of never-before-seen materials from the archives of Dan O’Bannon and H.R. Giger — including original story notes, rejected designs and storyboards, exclusive behind-the-scenes footage, and Dan’s original 29 page script from 1971, titled ‘Memory.’

The untold origin story behind Ridley Scott‘s ALIEN – rooted in Greek and Egyptian mythologies, underground comics, the art of Francis Bacon, and the dark visions of Dan O’Bannon and H.R. Giger. A contemplation on the symbiotic collaborative process of movie-making, the power of myth, and our collective unconscious.

“‘Memory – The Origins of Alien’ offers an entertaining inside look at the making of a classic — and compellingly analyzes its creation in the context of its era.” (Rotten Tomatoes)

“A well-mounted peek behind the scenes of Ridley Scott’s 1979 science-fiction masterpiece, is more interested in what you can see, as well as what you cannot unsee.” (LA Times)

“A must for ‘Alien’ enthusiasts.” (Times UK)

“Even if you’re not a fan of Alien, this is an interesting look at the creative process and an investigation into how various types of story line inspired this iconic film.” (Scream Queens)
