Freaks and Geeks: The Documentary #SavetheRio Fundraiser

Join us at the Rio Theatre for a #SavetheRio fundraiser event that is gonna revel in and revisit one of the best single-season TV shows to ever hit the airwaves: FREAKS AND GEEKS.

Premiering in 1999, the now iconic 80s coming-of-age high school comedy only ever aired 12 of its original 18 episodes, yet its critical acclaim and passionate fan base has it firmly cemented as a serious cult-favourite. Despite its all-too-brief run, the series launched the careers of creator Paul Feig (who would go on to direct hit movies like BRIDESMAIDS and GHOSTBUSTERS), and the acting careers of James Franco, Linda Cardellini, Jason Segel, Busy Philipps, Martin Starr, John Francis Daley, Samm Levine, and Seth Rogen, among others. And the show’s executive producer? Some guy named Judd Apatow

Get ready to #SavetheRio with a special screening of the upcoming FREAKS AND GEEKS: THE DOCUMENTARY, a live Sype Q&A with the film’s director Brent Hodge (I AM CHRIS FARLEY, A BRONY TALE) and the big screen McKinley High reunion you’ve been waiting your whole life for. (Think the Bionic Woman, donuts, drums, dungeons and dragons, and Joan Jett’s ‘Bad Reputation’ played several times over the course of the evening. What’s your favourite episode…?)

All proceeds to benefit the #SavetheRio fund. To learn more and donate directly, take a look at our Indiegogo and FrontFundr campaigns.
