The Shape of Water

The Shape of Water

In addition to THE SHAPE OF WATER winning the highly-coveted Oscar for Best Picture, master Mexican story-teller and director Guillermo del Toro took home a lot of hardware – including the Best Director Oscar, Golden Globe, BAFTA, and Golden Lion from the Venice Film Fest – for this other-worldly fairy tale, a sci-fi love letter to classic Hollywood monster movies.

Sally Hawkins stars (in a career-high performance that saw her nominated for an Oscar, a Golden Globe, BAFTA and more) in this unlikely cold-era fairy tale as Elisa, a mute, isolated woman who works as a cleaning lady in a hidden, high-security government laboratory in 1962 Baltimore. Her life changes forever when she discovers the lab’s classified secret — a mysterious, scaled creature from South America that lives in a water tank. As Elisa develops a unique bond with her new friend, she soon learns that its fate and very survival lies in the hands of a hostile government agent and a marine biologist. Also starring Octavia Spencer, Michael Shannon, Richard Jenkins, Doug Jones, and Michael Stuhlbarg.

“Altogether wonderful.” (The New York Times)

Guillermo del Toro‘s THE SHAPE OF WATER elegantly blends whimsical fairy tale with a fresh spin on classic monster movies for a delightful experience.” (Screen Rant)

THE SHAPE OF WATER finds Guillermo del Toro at his visually distinctive best — and matched by an emotionally absorbing story brought to life by a stellar Sally Hawkins performance.” (Rotten Tomatoes)
