The Gentlemen Hecklers Presents: Flatliners (1990)

Come see folks who wrote jokes for Netflix‘s latest season of Mystery Science Theater 3000 provide live, hilarious commentary for some early-90s sci-fi with Joel Schumacher‘s FLATLINERS. Let The Gentlemen Hecklers provide you with their unique brand of live, hilarious commentary – for the best cheesy movies! Eric Fell, Patrick Maliha, and Shaun Stewart are Vancouver’s masters of movie riffing, making so-bad-they’re-good movies even better by talking you through them.

In 1990, Joel Schumacher (ST. ELMO’S FIRE, THE LOST BOYS, BATMAN FOREVER) assembled a star studded, post-Brat Pack cast – including Kiefer Sutherland, Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon and William Baldwin – to tell the unlikely story of five medical students who play with science in an attempt to find out if there is, in fact, life after death. With both access to equipment and some mad medical skills, they figure out a way to “flatline” for a few seconds (thereby simulating and experiencing a kind of death) before being resuscitated. A number of them are “killed” and brought back with vivid memories of their past, and the experiment is deemed a success. However, it seems as though they may have gotten more than they bargained for when their past literally comes back to haunt them… There are consequences for playing “God.” With Oliver Platt, Kimberly Scott.

FLATLINERS (Joel Schumacher, 1990 / 115 mins / PG) Seeking answers about the afterlife, Chicago medical student Nelson persuades his fellow pupils to help him end his life, and then resuscitate him in the nick of time. Atheist David, playboy Joe, and troubled Rachel also journey into the unknown, looking for meaning in their own lives. As the experiments become more perilous, each is forced to contend with the paranormal consequences of trespassing on the other side.
