Actor: Gemma Jones

ROCKETMAN is an epic musical fantasy about the incredible human story of Sir Elton John‘s breakthrough years. The film follows the fantastical journey of transformation from shy piano prodigy Reginald Dwight (Taran Egerton, in a breakout performance) into international superstar Elton John. This inspirational story — set to Elton John’s most beloved songs and performed by Egerton — tells the universally relatable story of how a small-town boy became one of the most iconic figures in pop culture. ROCKETMAN also stars Jamie Bell (BILLY ELLIOT) as Elton’s longtime lyricist and writing partner Bernie Taupin, Richard Madden as Elton’s first manager, John Reid, and Bryce Dallas Howard as Elton’s mother, Sheila Farebrother.

“Call it Elton John’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody,’ with more sex, more drugs and a killer performance from Taron Egerton as the young, addicted, conflicted, gay and gifted John… It’s more than a little bit funny how a great piece of acting can knock the hell out of tainted preconceptions. (Rolling Stone)

“Director Dexter Fletcher has found a fresh, slightly bonkers way to present a familiar blueprint. Yes, we’ve all seen the music biopic where a popstar finds fame and fortune before descending into drink-and-drugs hell. But have we ever seen a music biopic with a song performed entirely underwater; or a song that causes an entire room of people to inexplicably levitate; or a song that literally explodes Elton John into a firework?” (Empire Magazine)

“It’s going to be a long, long time before a rock biopic manages to capture the highs and lows of an artist’s life like Rocketman.” (Rotten Tomatoes)

“If you need somebody to recount the rise of a British rock god from pallid suburbia to the baroque extremes of fame, and to create a stir without causing too much of a fuss, [director] Dexter Fletcher is your man.” (The New Yorker)
