Career highlights include playing the role of Mary Delgado in the Toronto Production of “Jersey Boys”, Sally Simpson in the Who’s “Tommy”, “Les Miserables” (National Tour) and “Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” with Donny Osmond.  Along with over 50 film and TV credits she has directed many plays here in Vancouver as well Toronto’s “Almost, Maine”. In addition to teaching, she regularly coaches many young actors around the city. Upcoming projects include the feature film release of “Becoming Redwood” and directing the play “Chicken” in August, 2012.

Jodi Derkson

Jodi started acting at the ripe of 12 and has immersed herself in the performing arts ever since. As a BC Certified Drama teacher with over fifteen years of professional teaching experience in the public school system she has created, in collaboration with her brilliant students, over twenty-five original productions.  Jodi holds a Masters of Education in curriculum development and has attended classes at The Actors’ Studio in Montreal, The William Davis Centre, and performed professionally for a number of years. Her real passion lies in directing and developing original curriculum to keep her students engaged so that they learn how to act without “acting”.  She is excited to work out of The Rio Theatre and enjoys its intimate professional space. Her focus is for her acting students to have a fantastic time honing their acting skills while developing tools to take into their professional and personal lives.
